SENIOR MENS LEADING GOALKICKER Matthew "Wingy" Vass Memorial

This award is given to the Senior Mens player who kicked the highest number of goals during the season.

A bit about Matty Vass:

  • Matty Vass (Aka Wingy) was born 17.11.1973 and passed away 02.07.2010, aged 36.

  • 1979-1992 Wingy played junior footy at Kedron.

  • 1993 – he played in Dabooltures’ First grade side with four of his brothers.

  • 1995-2001 and part of 2005, he played for Wilston Grange playing 132 games.

  • He won the leading goal kicker in 1995 with 106 goals and was also leading goal kicker in 1996 and 1998.

  • He captained a premiership in 1997 but unselfishly ruled himself unavailable before the Grand Final due to a nagging injury.

  • 2003 & 2004 he returned to Caboolture as player and assistant coach.

  • 2005 & 2006 he won premierships in Mackay Footy League with the Whisunday Sea Eagles.

  • 2007 he returned to Kedron in a player/coach role and lead Kedron to win the premership coming from 4th position.

  • He continued to play as a player/coach in 2008 and then only as a player in 2009 and 2010.

  • He was an excellent and frequent exponent of the Speckie!
